$10.00Build guide

This is a printable plan for a wooden toy airplane with wings, a tail fin, and a spinning propeller, sized for builders ages 7–10. It takes about 60 to 75 minutes using only hand tools — a miter box and back saw for every cut — with an adult running the drill. The PDF includes a cut list, shopping list, full-size templates, and step-by-step build instructions.

Your builder will cut, assemble, and paint a chunky wooden Airplane with a swept tail, wide wings, a tail fin, and a propeller that really spins on a screw. Every cut is a straight 90 or 45 degree angle made in a miter box, so there's no freehand sawing — just careful measuring and marking. A nose plate up front gives the propeller a solid, marked center to spin on, and an optional pair of wheels lets it roll along the runway too.
This is a quick build — about 60 to 75 minutes — so it's a great first project or a fun afternoon at the bench. An adult handles all the drilling; your builder measures, marks, cuts, glues, screws, and paints the rest.
One 4 ft 1x3 pine board, a 1x2 pine piece at least 10" long, and a 2x4 piece at least 8" long. Scrap pieces work fine for the 1x2 and 2x4.
No. Every cut is made with a hand back saw in a miter box — a 90 or 45 degree slot that keeps cuts straight. There's no freehand or power sawing.
None of it. The plan has an adult drill every screw mark, the propeller's center hole, and any wheel pilots, then start each screw before handing it back for final driving.
Yes. It's assembled screw, washer, propeller, washer, with the screw snugged and then backed off a quarter turn so it spins freely.
Wheels are an optional add-on. The hardware list includes two 1-1/4" wheels with pan-head screws and washers if you want them.
