$10.00Build guide

This is a printable woodworking plan for a Toy Truck, built with hand tools in about 60 minutes and sized for builders ages 7-10. The PDF includes a cut list, shopping list, full-size templates, and step-by-step build instructions, with a grown-up handling the drilling. Your builder works mainly with a miter box and a stubby screwdriver to measure, cut, and assemble a truck with wheels that really roll.

Your builder will make a pickup truck with a slanted windshield, a cargo bed, and wheels that really roll — the same wheel trick used in our race car plan. Every cut is a straight 90 or 45 degree cut made in a miter box, so there's no freehand sawing and no power saw involved. In about an hour, your young carpenter measures, marks, and cuts all four parts, glues the cab and bed rails in place, then flips the truck over to drive six screws up through the bottom. After painting, four wheels go on with screws, washers, and a stubby screwdriver.
It's a satisfying first project for building confidence with a miter box and screws, while a grown-up handles the drilling, countersinking, and steadies the board during cuts.
About 60 minutes. Every cut is made in a miter box, so there's no power saw involved.
A 1x2 pine piece at least 8" long and a 2x4 piece at least 1 ft 1 in long. A scrap of either works, or you can cut extra pieces from one 8-foot 2x4 stud for future builds.
No. Your builder cuts everything by hand in a miter box and drives screws with a stubby screwdriver. A grown-up uses a drill to drill and countersink the screw marks and pilot holes.
Measuring, making a 45 degree corner cut, driving long screws, and mounting wheels so they spin on screws.
Yes, the plan uses acrylic paint. Use water-based, non-toxic paints and finishes as noted in the safety guide.
